Sebastien brings over two decades of experience in human resources management, particularly in healthcare and staffing industries. Prior to his current role at Novant Health, he served as the Senior Vice President and Chief People Officer at CommonSpirit Health in Colorado, where he was instrumental in overseeing workforce strategies and enhancing employee engagement across the organization from July 2021 to April 2024.

Before his tenure at CommonSpirit Health, Sebastien held multiple leadership roles at Atrium Health in Charlotte, North Carolina, including Senior Vice President of Workforce Operations and Senior Vice President of Workforce Engagement, positions he held from November 2018 to July 2021. His strategic leadership was pivotal in advancing Atrium Health’s workforce initiatives.

Earlier in his career, Sebastien was the Vice President and Chief Workforce Officer at Parkland Health in Dallas/Fort Worth Area, where he led talent acquisition and implemented strategic workforce planning models from March 2017 to November 2018. His extensive experience also includes significant roles at Randstad USA and Randstad Canada, where he developed and managed staffing solutions that supported both regional and national operations.

Sebastien’s academic credentials include an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management, emphasizing his well-rounded expertise in business administration and management.

Matthew Breitfelder is Partner and Global Head of Human Capital at Apollo, where he focuses on attracting extraordinary talent to the firm and creating an innovative, inclusive, high-performance culture that brings out the best in Apollo’s people. Matt leads Apollo’s recruiting, talent management, compensation, succession planning, citizenship, employee relations, development, and culture work. He is also a member of the firm’s Leadership Team. Matt is committed to expanding opportunities across Apollo’s workplace, marketplace, and communities. Prior to joining Apollo, Matt was Chief Talent Officer at BlackRock as well as a member of the Operating Committee. Previously, he held strategy, talent, and innovation roles at Mastercard, PwC, and CEB/Gartner.

Matt holds a BA in Economics from the University of Southern California, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently serves on the boards of the Lumina Foundation, the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society program, the Milken Institute’s Inclusive Capitalism initiative, and Georgetown University’s initiative on AI, Analytics, and the Future of Work. He is the co-author of numerous Harvard Business School case studies and articles on leadership. Matt has been recognized as a Top Global CHRO multiple times by n2Growth and Stanford Business School.
