Amit Kansal Appointed as Chief Investment Officer – Private Credit at Nuvama Asset Management

Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, April 2026 – Amit Kansal has joined Nuvama Asset Management as Chief Investment Officer – Private Credit, marking a significant step in strengthening the firm’s alternatives platform.

With over two decades of experience across credit, distressed assets, and special situations investing, Amit brings deep expertise in execution, platform building, and scaling investment businesses. His appointment reflects Nuvama’s commitment to expanding its private credit capabilities with sharper strategic focus and depth.

Prior to joining Nuvama Asset Management, Amit served as Head – Alternate Investments (Fixed Income) at Aditya Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund, where he led the private credit practice across multiple strategies, including performing credit and money manager platforms.

Earlier, he was the Chief Investment Officer at Aditya Birla Stressed Asset AMC Pvt. Ltd., where he played a pivotal role in building and scaling a distressed asset platform from inception. Under his leadership, the platform executed multiple deals cumulatively exceeding USD 1.4 billion, delivering strong returns and establishing itself as a leading player in the stressed asset and special situations space.

He also led the distressed asset business at Aditya Birla Group, where he was instrumental in conceptualizing, structuring, and operationalizing the platform, including securing regulatory approvals and forming strategic partnerships. The platform emerged as one of the most profitable in the industry with strong IRR performance.

Earlier in his career, Amit held leadership roles at Aditya Birla Finance Limited and SREI Infrastructure Finance Limited, where he led project and structured finance teams across regions, building strong expertise in infrastructure financing and credit strategy.

He began his career with ICICI Bank and Ernst & Young, developing a strong foundation in project finance, corporate finance advisory, and financial analysis.

With extensive experience in private credit, distressed investing, and infrastructure finance, Amit brings a strong combination of strategic vision and execution capability to drive Nuvama’s alternatives business.
