Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, August 2026 — Takeda has appointed Ted (Tae Hoon) Kim as Country Head, India & Sri Lanka, marking a significant leadership transition for the pharmaceutical executive after more than a decade with the company. In his new role, Kim is leading Takeda’s operations across India and Sri Lanka, with a focus on sustainable business growth and expanding access to innovative medicines for patients.
Kim has been associated with Takeda for approximately 11 years, building extensive experience across country management, commercial strategy, portfolio management, marketing and specialty care. Before assuming his current position in July 2026, he served as Head of Business Operations and Portfolio Management from April 2023 to July 2026 in Singapore. In this role, he headed commercial strategy and operations for Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea (TAS) within Takeda’s Growth & Emerging Markets region.
Earlier, Kim was Head of GI Business Unit at Takeda Korea from March 2021 to April 2023, where he was responsible for strategy development and commercial execution for the gastrointestinal portfolio. He previously served as Marketing Manager – GI Business Unit from 2019 to 2021 and as Business Manager – Specialty Care 1 BU from 2015 to 2019, overseeing marketing and sales responsibilities across specialty-care areas including urology, pediatrics, psychiatry and gastroenterology. He initially joined Takeda in 2015 as Marketing Manager – Frontier Franchise.
Prior to Takeda, Kim spent nearly nine years with Eisai Korea, progressing through several commercial and marketing roles. His responsibilities included serving as BioOnc Marketing Manager and Head of Korea, Asia Oncology Leadership Team, as well as Alliance Marketing Manager, Product Manager – Humira and Medical Representative. His work at Eisai covered therapeutic areas including rheumatology, gastroenterology and oncology, along with alliance management.
Kim began his pharmaceutical career in medical representative roles with Daewoong Pharmaceuticals, followed by Baxter International, before moving to Eisai Korea. With more than two decades of pharmaceutical industry experience, his career spans frontline sales, product and portfolio marketing, specialty-care business leadership, commercial strategy and regional operations across Asian markets. His appointment as Country Head brings this broad commercial and leadership experience to Takeda’s India and Sri Lanka operations.
