Chicago, Illinois, United States, May 2026 – Henri Louw has been promoted to the role of Vice President, Business HR – Corporate Staff Functions at AbbVie. In this expanded leadership role, Louw will continue contributing to the company’s global people strategy while supporting the evolution of corporate staff functions across the organization.
Prior to this promotion, Henri Louw served as Senior Director: Business Human Resources, US Therapeutics – Neuroscience and EyeCare at AbbVie, where he spent nearly three years supporting one of the company’s key therapeutic businesses. During his tenure, he played an important role in strengthening HR partnerships, talent strategy, and leadership support within highly specialized healthcare and commercial environments.
Before leading HR for the neuroscience and eyecare business, Louw served as Director: Talent Acquisition – Global Commercial at AbbVie, overseeing talent acquisition initiatives for the company’s global commercial operations. Earlier in his journey with the organization, he also held senior HR leadership positions including HR Director – UK, Regional Director of Human Resources – Middle East, and HR Director – South Africa. Across these roles, he led strategic initiatives related to talent management, succession planning, leadership development, organizational transformation, and HR operations across multiple geographies.
During his earlier years at AbbVie, Louw was deeply involved in building affiliate-wide HR strategies aligned with business objectives while supporting complex change management programs, mergers and acquisitions, leadership capability building, and employee engagement initiatives. His leadership experience also extended to labour relations, workforce transformation, performance management systems, and regional talent development across South Africa and several African markets including Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana, Senegal, Zambia, Ghana, and Ivory Coast.
Before joining AbbVie, Henri Louw held HR leadership and consulting roles with organizations including Abbott, Sanofi, Accenture, and Altech Autopage Cellular. These experiences helped shape his expertise across HR strategy, organizational development, consulting, talent management, and leadership transformation within multinational environments.
