Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, August 2026 — HDFC Bank has appointed Sumit Decka as Deputy Vice President – MDM & Central Procurement, strengthening its capabilities across master data management, procurement data governance and enterprise process excellence. Decka brings more than two decades of professional experience, with expertise spanning master data management (MDM), data governance, enterprise applications, ERP transformation, procurement processes and operational excellence.
In his new role, Decka will lead MDM and procurement data initiatives at HDFC Bank, with a focus on enterprise data governance, data quality, standardization, process governance and operational excellence. His mandate includes strengthening governance across critical master data domains, establishing data-quality controls and ownership frameworks, supporting data harmonization and hierarchy management, and enhancing audit readiness and compliance. He will also collaborate with business, procurement, finance, technology and operations teams to align data governance with enterprise priorities.
Prior to joining HDFC Bank, Decka spent nearly four years with Apollo Hospitals, most recently as Manager – IT Solutions and Digital Applications Implementation. There, he led enterprise MDM, data governance and healthcare technology initiatives spanning patient, billing, material, pricing and operational data. His responsibilities also included governance across HIS/EMR and digital platforms, application implementation, process automation, data integration and technology modernization. He also worked on an enterprise Drug Databank integrated with healthcare platforms including Apollo 24/7.
Earlier, Decka held MDM and data-focused leadership assignments across Fortis Healthcare and WPP. As Head – Master Data Management at Fortis Healthcare, he led centralized MDM operations across 27 hospitals and supported major Oracle ERP and Hospital Information System transformation programs. At WPP, where he also served as Head – Master Data Management, he managed governance and standardization across customer, vendor, product, pricing and material master data in Oracle and SAP environments. His broader career also includes experience with Medanta and RBS.
With his move to HDFC Bank, Decka brings a combination of data governance, technology transformation, cross-functional stakeholder management and Lean Six Sigma-led process improvement to the banking sector. He holds an MBA in Health/Health Care Administration and Management from Welingkar Institute of Management.
