Cleveland, Ohio, United States, August 2026 — Shawn Black has been appointed President of the Aerospace Group at Eaton, bringing more than two decades of leadership experience across the aerospace and defense industries. In his new role, Black will lead Eaton’s Aerospace Group, drawing on his extensive background in business growth, operational leadership, program management and team development.
Black joins Eaton from GKN Aerospace, where he served as President – Defense from January 2022 to August 2026. During his more than four-year tenure, he held senior responsibility within the company’s defense business and further strengthened his leadership experience across the aerospace and defense sector.
Before GKN Aerospace, Black was President – Government, Aerospace & Defense at Lyten. He previously held senior executive positions at Cobham Advanced Electronic Solutions (CAES), serving first as Chief Operating Officer and subsequently as President and Chief Executive Officer. As CEO, he helped lead a major portion of the approximately $1 billion CAES organization through a turnaround and supported its transition to a standalone U.S.-based ownership structure following the acquisition of Cobham PLC.
Earlier, Black spent nearly 16 years with DRS Technologies, progressing through leadership positions spanning business development, program management and general management. As Vice President/General Manager, Electro Optical & Infrared Systems, he led efforts to move a declining business toward profitable growth through diversification of products and customers. His previous positions at DRS included Vice President Program Management and Vice President Business Development.
Black began his professional career with the United States Marine Corps, serving from 1994 to 1999 and receiving an honorable discharge as a Captain. He subsequently worked at Perot Systems and Arthur Andersen Business Consulting before moving into the aerospace and defense sector. His combination of military service, consulting, operational management and executive leadership provides a broad foundation for his new position at Eaton.
