London, United Kingdom, August 2026 — Sainsbury’s has appointed Dave Cain as Head of Martech, marking a new chapter for the digital marketing and technology leader. Cain brings more than two decades of experience spanning digital marketing, MarTech, customer experience, performance marketing, ecommerce, analytics and technology-led business transformation across the retail, automotive and transportation sectors.
In his new role, Cain will lead the strategy, governance and future-proofing of Sainsbury’s enterprise MarTech and AdTech stack. His appointment brings extensive experience in connecting marketing strategy with data, technology and customer experience, developed through senior digital leadership assignments across major UK businesses.
Prior to joining Sainsbury’s, Cain served for more than three years as Head of Digital Marketing at LKQ UK & Ireland, where his remit covered digital strategy, performance, operations and innovation across businesses including Euro Car Parts, OmniParts, LKQ Leisure & Marine, LKQ Digraph and LKQ Rewards. His work encompassed digital channels and technology, customer engagement and data-driven performance improvement.
Earlier, Cain was Head of Digital Marketing at Arriva Group, leading growth across its digital ecosystem, including performance marketing, MarTech, customer data platforms, analytics and personalisation. During his tenure, he led initiatives that improved performance marketing ROI, expanded CRM capabilities and supported new web and app platforms. Before Arriva, he spent nearly five years as Digital Marketing Manager at Boots UK, where his responsibilities included SEO, PPC, affiliate marketing, programmatic advertising, omnichannel targeting and digital technology. His experience at Boots also included supporting the Boots.com re-platforming and GDPR enablement across digital channels, data and technology.
Cain’s career in digital stretches back to 2002, when he began developing customer-facing websites and subsequently built a freelance digital marketing business. He later worked as a Senior Digital Account Manager at Studio-40 and as a Senior SEO Consultant at Angel SEO. Alongside his corporate career, Cain currently serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees at Citizens Advice Nottinghamshire Central & South, where his responsibilities encompass governance, strategy, risk management and executive oversight.
