Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, August 2026 — Pirojsha Godrej has taken charge as Chairperson of Godrej Industries Group and Godrej Industries Limited, succeeding Nadir Godrej as part of a planned generational leadership transition effective August 14, 2026. Pirojsha will also continue to serve as Chairperson of Godrej Properties, Godrej Capital and Godrej Ventures, extending his leadership responsibilities across the Group’s diversified business portfolio.
The transition represents a significant milestone in Pirojsha’s more than two-decade journey within the Godrej ecosystem. He joined Godrej Properties in 2004, became Executive Director in 2008 and was appointed CEO in 2012 before becoming Executive Chairperson in 2017. During his leadership, Godrej Properties went through a period of rapid expansion and ultimately became India’s largest real estate developer by residential sales in FY21, a position the company says it continues to hold.
Pirojsha’s responsibilities subsequently expanded beyond real estate. He founded businesses that became Godrej Capital and Godrej Ventures, while taking on a broader leadership mandate across Godrej Industries Group. The Group said its businesses recorded more than 20% compounded annual growth in both sales and net profits during the five years leading up to FY26, while its publicly listed businesses had a combined market capitalization exceeding $20 billion as of April 2026.
His elevation follows a succession plan announced earlier in 2026. Nadir Godrej retired from the Chairperson role upon turning 75 and moved into the position of Chairman Emeritus, while Pirojsha formally assumed leadership on August 14. The transition also forms part of the longer-term leadership framework established for the Godrej Industries Group following the Godrej family’s shareholding realignment.
Pirojsha brings a combination of business leadership and global academic experience to the role. He graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, completed a Master’s in International Affairs at Columbia University, and subsequently earned an MBA from Columbia Business School. As he assumes the wider Group chairpersonship, his leadership will span businesses with positions across real estate, consumer products, agriculture, chemicals and financial services.
