Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co Strengthens its International Arbitration Practice with the Appointment of Shaneen Parikh as Partner in Mumbai

Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, August 2026 — Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co (SAM) has appointed Shaneen Parikh as a Partner in its Dispute Resolution practice, specialising in International Arbitration. She will be based in Mumbai and takes up her role on 17 August 2026. She joins from Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, where she was Partner and Head – International Arbitration.

Parikh is a dual qualified Advocate and Solicitor with over three decades of experience in complex disputes, very often with cross-border dimensions. She is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales, an Advocate on Record before the Supreme Court of India, a Registered Foreign Lawyer at the Singapore International Commercial Court and is registered with the Abu Dhabi Global Market Courts and the Dubai International Financial Centre.

Her appointment adds significant international depth to a Dispute Resolution practice that has an established record before both arbitral institutions and the Indian courts, and it comes as Indian and international clients increasingly seek Indian counsel who can run multi-jurisdictional arbitrations end to end.

In a joint statement on her appointment, Managing Partners, Pallavi Shroff & Akshay Chudasama said, “We are delighted to welcome Shaneen to Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co. Our International Arbitration team is already a successful one, and Shaneen’s arrival adds real weight and global reach to it. Her standing with the leading arbitral institutions, combined with three decades of experience across the most demanding cross-border mandates, will be instrumental in driving the practice into its next phase of growth. As Indian businesses expand internationally and global capital continues to flow into India, our clients need counsel who can run the most complex disputes across jurisdictions, and Shaneen is exactly that.”

Commenting on her new role, Shaneen Parikh said, “Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co has built a Dispute Resolution practice with genuine ambition in the international space, and I am delighted to be joining it. Indian parties and international clients investing in India are bringing more sophisticated and higher value disputes to arbitration than ever before, and I look forward to working with an outstanding team to meet that demand.”

As counsel, Parikh has acted in arbitrations seated in Singapore, London, New York, Geneva, Zurich, Dubai and across India, administered under the SIAC, ICC, LCIA, MCIA, DIAC and ICA Rules, as well as in ad hoc proceedings. Her work covers both commercial and investor-state disputes, and spans shareholder and post M&A disputes, private equity exits, put options and valuations, ISDA and structured financial products, infrastructure and construction, and media and intellectual property.

She represented the successful party in the Supreme Court decision confirming that two Indian parties may choose a foreign seat of arbitration, a defining affirmation of party autonomy in Indian arbitration law.

She also brings deep experience in high stakes commercial litigation before the High Courts, the Supreme Court and the National Company Law Tribunal, including precedent setting matters on securities fraud, commodities trading and compulsory amalgamation under the Companies Act.

Parikh is among the leading Indian voices on third party funding, advising both clients and funders on the Indian market, and serves on the Board of the Indian Association of Litigation Funders.

She sits as arbitrator and has been appointed both by institutions and by parties in international arbitrations, including by SIAC and the LCIA. She is on the panels of the ICC, DIAC, AIAC, AAA-ICDR and BICAM.

Parikh serves on the Governing Board of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA) and as Vice Chair of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR. She sits on the Council of the Mumbai Centre for International Arbitration and is an Ambassador of the Asia Pacific Arbitration Group of the International Bar Association. She was a member of the Court of Arbitration of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre from 2018 to 2022, and of the Expert Committee that drafted the institutional arbitration rules for the proposed International Arbitration Centre at GIFT City, Gujarat.

She is ranked as a Global Elite Thought Leader by the Lexology Index, Band 1 for arbitration by Legal 500, which also named her Arbitration Lawyer of the Year in India, and is recognised by Chambers and Partners in both its Global and Asia-Pacific guides, by Benchmark Litigation as a Litigation Star and among the Top 100 Women in Asia Pacific, and by asialaw as a Distinguished Practitioner. She is a widely published author on investment treaty arbitration, enforcement of awards and third party funding, and a frequent speaker at international conferences.

Outside practice, Parikh serves on the global board of Magic Bus, which equips children with the skills they need to move from childhood to livelihood.
